The Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry in Aurora on Thursday afternoon announced that Annette Johnson will become its new executive director, following the retirement of current director Diane Renner.
Renner is retiring on Friday after 14 years as leader of the pantry. Johnson will begin as executive director on Monday.
With over 20 years of experience in financial and operational management in the food manufacturing and marketing sectors, Johnson brings a wealth of experience that aligns with the pantry’s mission, officials with the pantry said in a press release.
“We are honored to have Annette join our leadership,” said Theodia Gillespie, chair of the Board of Directors of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, in the release. “Her background in food services and community partnerships will be a tremendous asset as we continue Marie Wilkinson’s mission. We know her forward-looking approach will help us adapt to the evolving needs of our community.”
Along with her business background, Johnson is president of the East Aurora School District Board of Education.
Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry serves as a vital resource for a diverse range of individuals, from children and seniors to working families, who struggle to make ends meet, officials said in the release.
Through collaboration and partnerships, the organization focuses on creating pathways toward self-sufficiency, helping guests build stable futures within Aurora and neighboring communities, according to pantry officials.
“It is an honor to carry on the vision of Marie Wilkinson,” said Johnson in the release. “I look forward to strengthening partnerships, expanding our services and enhancing our outreach efforts to support every person who comes through our doors. Together, we’ll continue building a legacy of hope and opportunity.”
