Road closures planned in Batavia

Beginning Tuesday, May 27, road reconstruction and water main replacement work will take place on portions of McKee Street and Van Nortwick Avenue in Batavia, requiring both streets to be closed to through traffic for the duration of the work, Batavia officials said.

The project is expected to conclude in early August, according to a press release about the work.

The city-directed project involves the complete reconstruction of pavement and road base, installation of new curbs, and replacement of the existing water main infrastructure, according to the release. The affected areas include McKee Street from Stonefield Way to Van Nortwick Avenue and Van Nortwick Avenue from Wilson Street to Illinois Avenue.

The improvements are necessary to enhance long-term roadway integrity and ensure continued water system reliability, city officials said.
