Arctic front expected to bring snow showers to Chicago area before temperatures drop

National Weather Service officials are expecting snow showers and tumbling temperatures Wednesday in the Chicago area.

Officials said an arctic front was expected to bring in snow showers and gusty west to northwest winds Wednesday afternoon in portions of north central and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Officials expect travel impacts because of low visibility and coatings of snow on roadways.

Wind chills are expected to drop below zero Wednesday night into Thursday morning, officials said.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy at 29 degrees and a windchill of negative two degrees. At Midway Airport, conditions are overcast at 32 degrees.
