New Pace facility opens in Markham

State officials including Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Transportation Secretary Omer Osman and state Reps. Bob Rita, William Q. Davis and Debbie Meyers-Martin joined Pace Executive Director Malinda Metzger and other officials earlier this month to celebrate the completion of Pace’s new facility in Markham and the introduction of a bus operator training course.

The site has spurred economic development through job creation and will improve access to employment by supporting Pace service throughout the south suburbs, officials said in a news release.

The Southland campus project at 2107 W 163rd Place was made possible by the historic Rebuild Illinois capital program. In total, the state provided $34.2 million in funding, including Rebuild Illinois. Additional funding was provided by the Federal Transportation Administration ($1.3 million), Regional Transportation Authority Bonds ($1.9 million), and Pace capital funds ($2.6 million).
