Before facing Pittsburgh on Thursday, Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said he expects struggling starter Drew Smyly to return to the bullpen. That could mean the debut of 2021 first-round pick Jordan Wicks could arrive Sunday, but Hoyer offered a no comment on that possibility.
