At least 2 restaurants burglarized overnight in West Town neighborhood

A least two restaurants were burglarized within minutes of each overnight in the West Town neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Officers on patrol saw damage to the front glass door of a restaurant shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of West Chicago Avenue and conducted a search of the business to discover the cash register had been opened, police said.

Minutes earlier, officers responded to a call for service at another restaurant where the front door was damaged in the 600 block of North Ashland Avenue, and conducted a search of the business but no one was found, police said.

No one was in custody for either burglary and detectives were investigating.
