At least eight people were injured in an exchange of gunfire overnight on the Lower West Side, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 12:15 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street and found multiple shot,
Preliminary information indicates there was an exchange of gunfire between two people who fled the scene, police said. A 74-year-old woman was shot to the leg, and was taken in fair condition to Stroger Hospital. A 31-year-old woman also was shot in the leg, and was taken in fair condition to the same hospital. A third woman, 18, suffered a graze wound to the head, and was taken to Stroger Hospital where she also was listed in good condition.
A 19-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the back and refused medical help. A 23-year-old man was shot to the leg, and was taken in good. condition to Stroger Hospital. A 28-year-old man suffered two gunshot wound to the groin and was in fair condition at Stroger. A 36-year-old man also shot to the groin was in fair condition at the same hospital. An 18-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the knee, and refused medical help at the scene.
No one was in custody for the mass shooting, and detectives were investigating.
