Aurora chiropractor accused of sexually abusing two boys faces additional charges

An Aurora chiropractor charged in May with sexually abusing two boys in his care is now facing additional sexual abuse and assault charges concerning three more alleged victims, according to a news release from DuPage County on Tuesday.

Following an investigation, it is alleged that a boy, 17, was sexually abused by Murtaza Hameed, 46, of Naperville, in January while receiving treatment at his chiropractic office on the 3800 block of McCoy Drive in Aurora, according to past reporting. The boy’s father contacted the Aurora police, and they contacted the DuPage County Children’s Center. Authorities then learned that a similar incident had allegedly occurred in 2016 with a boy, 16, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office previously said.

At the time charged with one count of criminal sexual assault, five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of attempted criminal sexual assault and one count of misdemeanor battery, Hameed was denied pre-trial release on May 12, according to past reporting.

Since his arrest in May, three more people have come forward alleging that Hameed touched them inappropriately, per Tuesday’s news release, in incidents allegedly occurring between July 2016 and January 2025. The alleged victims span from pre-adolescent to adult males, according to officials.

On May 29, Hameed was indicted, according to the news release Tuesday from DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas, on 13 charges related to the three new alleged victims: 11 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of attempted criminal sexual assault.

On Tuesday, Hameed appeared at his arraignment on a total of 19 charges, per the release.

But, though Hameed was held in custody up until this point, DuPage County Judge Brian Telander on Tuesday granted a petition for pre-trial release over the state’s objection, according to the news release. Hameed was then released on electronic monitoring, confined to his home and under the condition that he have no contact with any minors other than his own children, officials said.

His next court date is set for July 8, the release stated.
