An Aurora house, which had been converted to three separate living units, was left uninhabitable after a fire early Thursday morning, officials said.
The Aurora Fire Department responded to the fire at around 4:40 a.m., according to a news release from the department. Responding firefighters found the two-and-a-half-story house in the 700 block of Fifth Street had smoke and fire coming from the roof and attic, officials said in the release.
Engine teams quickly extinguished the fire while other firefighters searched for anyone still inside the home, but they found no one, the release said.
The six residents, ranging in age from 13 to 53, had evacuated the building before the fire department’s arrival, and none reported injuries, officials said in the release.
The fire brought four engine companies, two truck companies, two medic units and three chief officers to the scene, with a total of 23 personnel responding, according to the release.
Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
