A fire Tuesday night left a two-story home on the far south side of Aurora uninhabitable, fire department officials announced on Wednesday.
The first firefighters to respond found the house in the 2700 block of Squaw Valley Trail covered in flames at around 10:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Aurora Fire Department. A total of 27 personnel responded and helped to put out the fire within an hour, the release said.
The home’s five residents were out of the house during the fire, but an alerted neighbor rescued a pet cat from the house before firefighters arrived, officials said in the release. Since the house was declared uninhabitable, residents are staying at another property owned by the family, the release said.
The main body of the fire was found to be in the attached garage, but fire also extended into the house and into the second floor, according to the release.
There were no injuries due to the fire, the cause of which is still under investigation, the release said.
