A 32-year-old Aurora man died early Sunday after a single-car crash on Route 59 in Aurora, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
Preliminary information indicates that the man lost control of his car driving southbound on Route 59 just south of Meridian Parkway at around 3:45 a.m., the news release said. The vehicle veered off the road and hit a light pole on the west side of Route 59, police said.
The impact ejected the driver from the vehicle, resulting in life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The driver was then transported to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead at 4:43 a.m., according to the release.
The man was the only person in the car at the time of the crash, officials said.
His name will later be released by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, which will determine the exact cause of death, the release from the police department said.
Parts of the road were closed for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene of the crash, police said.
The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division at 630-256-5330 or email tips@aurora.il.us.
