Below zero wind chills expected Friday morning, flurries Friday night

National Weather Service officials are expecting below zero wind chills in the area Friday morning and snow flurries into the night.

Officials said there is a slight chance of snow after midnight Friday when flurries are expected.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport is fair at 3 degrees with a wind chill of negative 16. Farther south at Midway Airport conditions are similar at 5 degrees, officials said.

In portions of north central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana, officials expected the frigid wind chills to continue throughout Friday morning warning it may feel between 10 to 20 below zero.

Around midnight Friday, flurries are expected to move into the area when there is a slight chance of snow. Saturday, flurries are expected with temperatures in the the mid 30s.
