Blake Fagbemi did his part to keep his senior season going for one more day — and matched his older brother in the process — by recording 10 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in Benet’s 56-47 win against Evanston in the Class 4A state semifinals at the State Farm Center in Champaign on Friday.
Senior forward Daniel Pauliukonis scored a team-high 11 points for the Redwings (32-5), who will play the winner of the second semifinal between Warren and Rich Township in the state championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday.
It will be the second appearance in the 4A state final in three seasons for Benet, which lost to Moline in 2023. Fagbemi’s brother Brayden was one of the leaders of that team.
