A 12-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Wednesday evening on the West Side in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 7:15 p.m., the boy was crossing the street in the 100 block of North Menard Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and listed in critical condition, police said.
The boy was unable to give police any details of the crash, but an investigation revealed the driver fled fled the scene after hitting the boy.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
