Burglars use black pickup to gain entry to businesses overnight on South Side

A  pickup truck was used to make entry to two businesses overnight on the South Side in the South Chicago and Auburn Gresham neighborhoods, Chicago police said.

The latest burglary happened about 4 a.m. in the 8400 block of South Vincennes Avenue. Police responded to a call of a burglary at a business and found the front door of a convenience store with damage. A witness at the scene told police a black pickup truck used a chain to pull the door of the hinges to gain entry. The burglars took property before fleeing the scene.

About 30 minutes earlier, another burglary was reported in the 9700 block of South Commercial Avenue. Officers responded to a burglary at a liquor store  and found damage to the front door. Burglars in a dark-colored pickup truck used chains to breakdown the front doors, but were unsuccessful in making entry, police said.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
