The Canadiens followed a turbulent season in which they finished last in the overall standings by retaining the right to the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NHL draft. The Blackhawks didn’t land one of the top 2 picks, which means their first-round pick — No. 6 overall — goes to the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of the trade for defenseman Seth Jones last July.
