Cast announced for Steppenwolf’s ‘Purpose’ on Broadway

The acclaimed Broadway stars LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Kara Young will appear in the Broadway transfer of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s production of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ new play, “Purpose.”

As directed by Phylicia Rashad, “Purpose” will open in New York on March 17, 2025, and run through July 6 in what has been described as a limited Broadway engagement at the Helen Hayes Theatre, 220 W. 44th St. Tickets have just gone on sale.

“Purpose” will also star Harry Lennix and the Steppenwolf ensemble members who first appeared in the world premiere production last March, including Jon Michael Hill, Glenn Davis and Alana Arenas.

This will be Rashad’s Broadway directing debut. The lead producer of the Broadway transfer is David Stone, best known for “Wicked.”
