Palestinian-owned Nabala Cafe vandalized for second time in two months

The Palestinian-owned Nabala Cafe in Uptown had its windows smashed for the second time early Friday morning, less than two months after it faced similar vandalism during Labor Day weekend. Three windows and a glass door were broken early Friday morning at some time between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., according to Chicago police. Two 22-year-old men shot, one fatally, at Belmont Harbor in Lakeview

Two men were shot, one fatally, just after midnight Saturday at Belmont Harbor in Lakeview, Chicago police said. The two men, both 22, were standing in a parking area in the 3500 block of N. Belmont Harbor Drive at approximately 12:40 a.m. when shots were fired at them from a dark-colored SUV, according to police. One man was shot in the head and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. Stolen pickup veers into Logan Square business overnight during vehicle accident

A stolen pickup truck involved in a traffic accident overnight veered into the front doors of a Logan Square business, Chicago police said. Shortly after 12:45 a.m. Saturday, a Ford pickup was headed north in the 2700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when it struck another vehicle and veered into the front doors of a business, police said. The driver of the pickup truck that was reported stolen, fled the scene. No one was in custody.    

Teen seriously wounded after suspect fired from scooter on Far North Side: police

A 15-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded Friday evening in the West Ridge neighborhood, according to Chicago police. Police said the boy was near the sidewalk in the 2000 block of West Arthur Avenue around 7:10 p.m. when two people rode up to him on a pair of electric scooters. One of the suspects took out a gun and shot the teen in the back and the arm, police said. The boy was taken to St. Francis Hospital for medical treatment in serious condition, police said. No one was in custody and area detectives were investigating the shooting.

Porter fraudster in custody, facing additional charge after police force way into Porter County home

Police said they had to force their way into a Porter County residence Thursday night to arrest Donald M. Johnson, who had an outstanding warrant for probation violation and failure to comply after skipping a $40,000 payment required as part of the restitution to his many victims in a real estate fraud case.

Driver in good condition after vehicle flips on its roof during accident overnight

A 26-year-old driver was in good condition after his car flipped over during a vehicle accident overnight in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly before 3:30 a.m . Friday, the victim was headed south in the 2500 bock of South Ashland Avenue in a Honda SUV when he struck a 2005 Ford sedan that flipped over on its roof. The driver of the sedan was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition. The driver of the SUV  refused medical help at the scene.
