A 47-year-old man who is a licensed conceal carry hold wounded a teenage boy who sprayed him with a chemical during a carjacking Thursday morning in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, Chicago police said. About 5:20 a.m., the victim was inside his vehicle in the 1600 block of West 82nd Street when a group approach and demanded his vehicle before spraying him with a chemical agent, police said. A 53-year-old man who was attempting to break into a vehicle overnight was shot by the vehicle’s owner during a struggle in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday, a man was trying to break into a vehicle when he was confronted by the owner in the 300 block of North Mayfield Avenue. A struggle ensued and the man was shot to the right shoulder, police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in good condition. Detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.    

A person was taken into custody Wednesday night after an 18-year-old man was wounded in a basement apartment in the East Chatham neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly before 11:10 p.m., the victim was in a basement apartment with a group of people in the 7900 block of South Blackstone Avenue when a known gunman pulled out a handgun and opened fire, police said. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm and the left side of the head. He was taken in critical condition to UChicago Medicine. Police said a suspect was taken into custody. One man is dead and two others injured following a Wednesday afternoon shooting in the Rogers Park neighborhood, near the Howard CTA Red Line station, according to Chicago police.  An occupant in an unknown vehicle fired shots at the three men who were standing near the sidewalk just after 2:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Howard Street, police said.   A 29-year-old man was shot in the neck, back and abdomen.
