An argument between three men in Garfield Ridge on Friday night turned violent, leaving one fatally shot and two others wounded, Chicago police said. Two men aged 27 and 31, one of whom was armed, approached a 28-year-old male employee with a concealed carry license in the 7000 block of W Archer Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, Chicago police said. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is conducting an investigation after an off-duty Chicago police officer returned fire at two unknown offenders in Printer’s Row early Saturday morning, police said. A 19-year-old man was fatally wounded in a car crash at an intersection in the Archer Heights neighborhood early Saturday morning, Chicago police said. He was driving a black sedan headed southbound in the 4300 block of S Pulaski Road, which at just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday collided with a silver SUV traveling northbound, according to police. A burglar was taken into custody after he attempted to run after breaking into a Lincoln Park business with two others who got away, Chicago police said. Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Friday, three people removed the front door of a business in the 2600 block of North Halsted Street, but responding officers arrived on the scene before they were able to go inside, police said. 18-year-old man critically stabbed overnight in West Loop neighborhood

An 18-year-old man was critically wounded overnight in a stabbing in the West Loop neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, the victim was walking in the first block of North Western Avenue when he was approached by multiple people. One of them pulled out a sharp object and struck the victim before fleeing the scene, police said. The victim suffered multiple lacerations to the body and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said. No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.

Two men and a woman were seriously injured in an apartment fire that broke out Thursday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, officials said. Shortly after 11:30 p.m., Chicago police officers responded to a call of a fire at an apartment building in the 4700 block of West Ohio Street. Authorities have accused a North Lawndale man of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and setting her house on fire to conceal her death. Joshua Mims, 37, faces charges of murder and aggravated arson for the May 2023 death of Racquel Adams. Judge Susana Ortiz ordered him held in custody at his first appearance Thursday morning at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, records show.
