Person in custody as fatal shooting of 17-year-old girl in Humboldt Park ruled homicide
A suspect remains in custody as Chicago police investigate the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Stephani Lopez Ramirez in Humboldt Park. Police found the teenager inside a residence on the 700 block of N. Avers Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. She was pronounced dead shortly after 1 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office Wednesday revealed that she suffered a single gunshot wound through the arm into the chest. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
