Construction to start on new Morton Grove Metra station that will ‘change the entrance to the village’

Construction is set to begin in the coming days on the new Metra commuter rail station in Morton Grove, part of a multi-million dollar project that the mayor expects will prove a more welcoming “gateway” to the north suburb. In an electronic newsletter from the village, officials stated construction is scheduled to start Oct. 14 and wrap up next summer. Aurora City Council to talk further about aldermanic pay: Amount and increase frequency

The Aurora City Council plans to have further discussions this week about pay for aldermen. The talk comes as aldermen consider how much they should be paid relative to how much work they do, and what they are paid in comparison to comparable cities. At last week’s City Council meeting, alderman held off on further consideration of a proposal to give aldermen a 10% raise beginning in 2027. Northbrook’s Autumnfest Saturday to feature horses, pumpkin chucking, taffy apples

Fans of all things autumn can take their pick Sunday of fall events at Northbrook’s Autumnfest, taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Meadowhill Park. The day’s activities will include a pumpkin patch (one per child, please), toasted marshmallows by a bonfire, a horse-drawn trolley, a petting zoo, bouncy houses and DJ entertainment.
