Boy, 16, shot overnight while walking in the Lower West Side neighborhood

A 16-year-old boy was wounded overnight while he was walking in the Lower West Side neighborhood, Chicago police said. About 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, the boy was walking in the 1900 block of West Ogden Avenue when someone opened fire, striking him to the torso. He was dropped off at Stroger Hospital where he was listed in fair condition, police said. No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.  

Unidentified female victim found fatally wounded overnight on sidewalk on Southside

A female victim was discovered fatally wounded overnight on a sidewalk in the Dearborn Homes neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said. About 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, an unidentified victim was discovered on the sidewalk in the first block of west 27th Street with a gunshot wound to the neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No other details surrounding the fatal shooting were available, and no one was in custody. Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.  

Homeless support organization holds memorial for Blue Line shooting victims: ‘It never really occurred to us that this would happen’
