At least 8 vehicles vandalized overnight on Northwest Side

A male suspect broke the the side front windows of at least eight parked vehicles overnight in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side, Chicago police said. Shortly before 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, a male suspect broke the driver’s side and passenger side windows of eight parked vehicles in the 3600 to 3800 blocks of North Nordica Avenue. Only one of the vehicles had property taken, police said. The suspect fled the scene in a dark colored sedan. No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.    

39-year-old man dies in car accident late Monday night in West Garfield Park

A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead after he lost control of a sedan and struck a tree late Monday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, Chicago police said. About 11:05 p.m., the victim was driving a Buick sedan at a high rate of speed in the 4600 block of West Maypole Avenue when he lost control and stuck a tree, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating.  

Man fatally wounded when gunfire veered into his living room Monday night in West Woodlawn neighborhood

A 56-year-old man was fatally wounded while sitting in his living room Monday night from gunfire outside his residence, Chicago police said, About 8 p.m., the victim was sitting in the front room of a residence in the 6600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue when shots were fired from the sidewalk, striking the man to the torso, police said. He was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead. No one was in custody and detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting,    

30-year-old woman discovered critically wounded on sidewalk Monday night in Grand Crossing

A 30-year-old woman was found lying on the sidewalk shot Monday night in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said. Shortly after 9:15 p.m., a woman was discovered outside in the 7700 block of South Dobson Avenue with a gunshot wound to the left leg. She was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was listed in critical condition, police said. No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
