Fire destroys hangar at Griffith/Merrillville Airport
A fire broke out late Thursday night at the Griffith-Merrillville Airport causing the roof of one of the hangars to collapse. A Lake County Sheriff’s Department officer on patrol reported a small fire and firefighters from nine area departments responded to the scene. A release from the sheriff’s office said no one was injured and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office was investigating to determine the cause of the blaze and any aircraft damage.
