National Weather Service officials said there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday, while expecting high temperatures in the mid 80s.
Current conditions at both Chicago airports is mostly cloudy at 74 degrees.
Officials said there is a slight chance of showers and scattered thunderstorms Friday morning in portions of north central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana. Scattered thunderstorms may redevelop east of I-55 Friday afternoon, officials said. GThere was chance that some of the storms to be strong to severe with damaging wind up to 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter, officials said.
After 3 p.m. Friday, officials siad there was a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 10 mph. Officials also said it was a 20 percent chance of showers before 10 p.m. Friday.
Over the Labor Day weekend, Sunday and Monday, officials expect swimming may become dangerous at southern Lake Michigan beaches.
