A 17-year-old faces felony charges after allegedly hijacking a vehicle with a 6-year-old inside it early Monday morning, according to Chicago police.
The suspect has been charged with three felonies, two misdemeanors and one citation. He was arrested about 4:35 a.m. Monday on the Eisenhower Expressway. He was identified as one of the people who hijacked a car from a 26-year-old woman.
Two men approached the 26-year-old woman around 4:20 a.m. Monday near the 2700 block of West Lexington Street. She was sitting in the vehicle with 1-year-old and 6-year-old boys.
After forcing the woman and the 1-year old out of the car, the carjackers drove off while the 6-year-old was still in the vehicle.
The carjackers eventually placed the 6-year-old out of the vehicle, where he was recovered a short distance away, police said. Neither the woman nor the children were injured. The carjackers fled the scene again and crashed the vehicle.
