Chicago could see 50 degrees on Tuesday, but a wind advisory is in effect

National Weather Service officials issued a wind advisory for portions of the Chicago area as temperatures are expected to reach 50 degrees with possible wind gusts up to 55 mph.

Officials said southwest winds between 25 to 35 mph are expected in central and northern Cook counties as well as DeKalb, Ogle, Winnebago, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties.

The wind advisory will remain in effect from 2 to 6 p.m., officials said.

Officials warned of possible power outages, and unsecured objects including tree limbs blowing around and difficult traveling conditions.

At O’Hare International Airport conditions are a few clouds at 28 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport conditions are the same at 30 degrees, officials said.

Highs of about 50 degrees were expected Tuesday.
