A man was charged with first-degree murder for fatally shooting a 43-year-old woman during an argument on New Year’s Day in the North Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police announced Friday.
Reginald Freeman, 38, of Chicago, was arrested Wednesday at 3:08 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road after allegedly shooting and killing Martina Mosby about 20 minutes earlier inside of a home in the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue, police said.
The two were involved in a verbal altercation when Freeman pulled out a gun and shot Mosby multiple times, police previously said. Freeman then fled the scene on foot, police said.
Mosby was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where she died early Thursday morning, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Freeman is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
