A 12-year-old child was airlifted to a Chicago hospital in the wake of a Munster house fire on Tuesday night.
Fire Chief Mark Hajduk said firefighters arrived at a residence in the 8100 block of Hohman Avenue around 7:30 p.m. for a report of a fire in a bedroom.
Firefighters were able to rescue the 12-year-old within 6 minutes, Hajduk said. Two firefighters did suffer cuts and a puncture wound and were treated at a local hospital, then released.
Hajduk said the child is at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital and “doing well.”
He said that he’s unable to to comment on the cause of the fire. The fire was mostly extinguished by 7:43 p.m.
