An artist who created inflatable tanks, fake planes and phony buildings as a member of the U.S. Ghost Army during World War II, 98-year-old Bernie Bluestein of Schaumburg is one of 10 surviving veterans slated to receive the Congressional Gold Medal for their ability to trick the German army and save American lives.
