A 78-year-old Country Club Hills woman with dementia who had been missing since Oct. 8 was found dead early Saturday on Cook County Forest Preserve District property.
A drone searching the area spotted a body in the Bartel Grassland and Water Preserve near Flossmoor Road and Central Avenue, near Tinley Park.
The location is about a mile southwest of Yolanda Howell’s home, near 187th Street and Cedar Avenue.
The drone spotted a body shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday, and Howell’s family later identified her, according to police.
She had last been seen about 1 p.m. Oct. 8.
Country Club Hills police and officers from other agencies assisted in searching for Howell, with volunteer searchers fanning out into the community.
Police said it did not appear Howell was the victim of foul play, but the cause of her death was not immediately available from the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
