About 6,500 CPS students in pre-kindergarten and special education were due to arrive to schools for in-person classes on Jan. 11, 2021, in a district whose total enrollment is about 350,000. Less than 40% of preschool through eighth grade families have chosen to send their children back for in-person learning.
