A single-vehicle crash on Thursday morning in Sugar Grove Township sent two people to the hospital, one with serious injuries, law enforcement officials said.
At around 8 a.m., Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crashed gray 2014 Honda Civic near the 42W300 block of Ke De Ka Road, sheriff’s officials announced in a news release.
The release said the passenger in the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman from Geneva, was seriously injured. The driver, a 19-year-old from Batavia, had minor injuries, officials said.
The passenger was transported to Ascension Mercy medical center in Aurora by ambulance, and was listed as
stable, but in critical condition with multiple traumatic injuries. She was later transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for further care, according to the release.
Officials said the driver was also transported to Mercy in Aurora by ambulance.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the car was traveling westbound on Ke De Ka Road when the vehicle’s passenger side tires went off the roadway and onto the shoulder at a curve, officials said in the release.
The driver attempted to correct the vehicle, but it continued off the roadway and struck a utility pole near the front passenger side, the release said.
Kane County Sheriff’s Office detectives are continuing to investigate the crash, officials said.
