DeKalb woman dies in St. Charles crash

A woman from DeKalb died Friday after a two-vehicle crash in St. Charles, police said.

At approximately 9:25 a.m., the St. Charles police and fire departments were dispatched to the 4400 block of Lincoln Highway for a crash with injuries, according to a press release from the St. Charles Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles that had been involved, according to the release. A 2015 black GMC with heavy front-end damage was in the roadway, and a 2024 white Kia was discovered lying overturned on the side of the road, officials said.

A 50-year-old woman from DeKalb had been ejected from the overturned Kia and her 49-year-old male passenger needed to be extricated, police said.

The woman was later pronounced dead, and the passenger was in critical condition at the hospital, according to the  release.

The occupants of the GMC were all transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment of their injuries, according to the release. A 30-year-old woman from Maple Park was in critical condition, while her 30-year-old male passenger and infant child were reported to be OK, police said.

The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.
