DePaul sets record with its 30th consecutive regular-season Big East loss, falling to Butler 82-63

Not only did DePaul stay winless in the Big East and fall for the 17th consecutive time overall Saturday. The Blue Demons set a record for futility in the conference, dropping their 30th straight regular-season game with a 82-63 loss to Butler at Wintrust Arena.

DJ Davis had 24 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (17-13, 8-11), and Pierre Brooks scored 16 points while shooting 6-for-9, including 4 for 6 on 3-pointers. Jalen Thomas added 15 points for the Butler, which snapped a five-game skid.

Jaden Henley scored 15 points, Jalen Terry 14 and Elijah Fisher 12 for the Blue Demons (3-26, 0-18).

DePaul hung with Butler early. K.T. Raimey’s 3-pointer put the hosts up by two with 14 minutes, 6 left in the first half. But then Butler closed with a 30-4 run before the break and never looked back.

Georgetown held the previous mark for consecutive Big East losses with 29. The Hoyas snapped the skid against DePaul on Jan. 24, 2023.

The Demons’ last regular-season conference win came against Xavier on Jan. 18, 2023.
