Dog shot during home invasion overnight on West Side

A dog was wounded by gunfire Tuesday night during a home invasion of the West Side in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 11 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1100 block of North Waller Avenue where someone forced themselves into a residence, displayed a weapon and opened fire, police said.
