Driver critically injured when shots fired at vehicle Wednesday night in Peterson Park neighborhood

A 19-year-old woman was seriously injured after shots were fired at the car she was driving Wednesday night in the Peterson Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., the woman was driving a vehicle carrying several passengers in the 3300 b lock of West Peterson Avenue when shots were fired. The woman suffered wounds to the body, and was driven to Swedish Covenant Hospital where she was transferred to Stroger Hospital and listed in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
