The DuPage County sheriff’s office is investigating the slaying of a man who was shot to death in the driveway of his home near Lombard on Monday night.
At about 9:30 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a reported shooting near 16th Street and Meyers Road.
Alaa Ghnimat, 38, was found unresponsive inside his parked car with a fatal gunshot wound.
The vehicle was towed by law enforcement for further examination, and Ghnimat’s body was transferred to the DuPage County coroner, authorities said.
“The DuPage County sheriff’s office extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim and is committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this tragic event,” Michael Cirolia, a spokesman for the DuPage County sheriff’s office, said in a news release.
The slaying is still under investigation, Cirolia said Wednesday.
