An East Chicago man faces charges in a recent stabbing.
Eric S. Harris, 36, was charged Friday with battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, battery resulting in serious injury, a Level 5 felony and resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony.
He posted a $3,000 cash bond on Monday. His next court date is Feb. 26.
The victim told police he went to the 4300 block of Baring Ave. on Feb. 9 to confront Harris about something “he did not appreciate” that happened “between Mr. Harris and his mother,” court records state.
A fight broke out outside. Harris pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in his upper stomach, the affidavit alleges.
Officers found the victim hunched over, cradling his abdomen. He was transported to a Chicago hospital where he underwent surgery in “critical condition.”
Officers found Harris around the back of the residence. He ran from the cops. An officer pulled a gun and Harris was arrested on the 4300 block of Magoun Avenue. Police found a bloody pocket knife on him.
