Elgin Community College students got a visit from state Sen. Christina Castro and Advocate Sherman Hospital president Sheri De Shazo as they harvested vegetables they’ve grown at the Advocate Sherman Natural Prairie and Community Garden. The Phi Theta Kappa honor society tends the garden and gives away the food they grow at the Spartan Pantry, which they operate at the school.
