Edward-Elmhurst Health began to see a steep spike in COVID-19 admissions last month, with daily patient volumes now surpassing previous highs. “We expected a second surge, but we didn’t expect it to actually hit this fast and this hard,” said Dr. Sanjeeb Khatua, chief physician executive.
