Elderly woman killed in North Chicago crash

An elderly woman was killed in a two-car accident Wednesday in North Chicago, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Patricia Lord, 86, of Zion, was killed when her car crashed with another vehicle at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday. The collision happened at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Saratoga Street, according to the coroner’s office.

Arriving officers said Lord was critically injured and was pronounced dead a short time later at Advocate Condell Medical Center. The coroner’s office said she died from blunt force injuries of the head, neck and chest.

The other driver was also injured, but their medical condition was not immediately available Thursday.

The collision remains under investigation by police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
