An Elgin man has been arrested in the Saturday stabbing death of his estranged wife, authorities said.
Pierre J. French, 36, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of DreAnna D. Booker, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Elgin police arrived at Booker’s home in the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard about 1 a.m. and found Booker dead as the result of multiple stab wounds, officials said. French’s address is listed as the same location.
French was taken into custody shortly afterward without incident, according to reports.
No additional information was provided as to what prompted the attack, how long Booker had been deceased before police found her or if there were any witnesses to the stabbing.
Kane County Circuit Court records show the couple filed for divorce in May. Booker filed an emergency order of protection motion in July but withdrew it in August when the couple reached an agreement, according to court records.
French and Booker had a hearing scheduled for next month in their divorce case, records show.
French is being held at the Kane County jail. His next court appearance scheduled for Dec. 18.
