‘Experience ECC’ open house for new students set for April 10
Elgin Community College’s annual “Experience ECC” open house will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at its Spartan Drive campus in Elgin.
This event gives prospective students and community members a chance to learn about ECC’s 120-plus degree and certificate programs, according to a news release.
Attendees will speak with faculty members to explore programs, take tours based on their interests, learn about getting involved on campus, and ask questions about admissions and financial aid, the release said. New this year will be sessions set up for parents.
Registration is encouraged but not required for the free event. To reserve a spot on a campus tour, go to elgin.edu/experienceECC.

Submissions for this year’s Z Peep Show candy creations due Friday
Zeller Creative Group in East Dundee is seeking entries through Friday, March 22, for its annual Z Peep Show.
Entrants can submit one jpeg photo for each original creation, which must include at least one Peeps marshmallow candy, according to the East Dundee village newsletter.
Entries must be titled and include the name of the entrant. More than one entry per person is allowed. Online voting will begin Tuesday, March 26.
Prizes are Amazon gift cards — $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third.

All-ages pinewood derby being held Saturday at West Dundee VFW
The Sleepy Hollow Service Club will be hosting an all-ages pinewood derby fundraiser from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the West Dundee VFW, 117 S. First St.
There will be divisions for entrants under the age of 18 and 18 and older, according to a Facebook page for the event. The entry fee is $25 per car.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The event will raise money for the service club’s Fourth of July fireworks show.
