Klezmer concert being held at Congregation Kneseth Israel

Noted violinist Jake Shulman-Ment will perform a klezmer concert from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Congregation Kneseth Israel, 330 Division St., Elgin.

Shulman-Ment will be accompanied by fellow violinist Abigale Reisman and clarinetist Kurt Bjorling, according to a social media post for the event.

Klezmer is Yiddish folk music, and Shulman-Ment has studied it throughout Eastern Europe, the post said. He has performed in New York’s Central Park, Lincoln Center, Budapest Palace of the Arts, the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress.

Tickets are $26.50, $21.40 for for congregation members and free for anyone 13 or younger. Tickets are available at www.ticketleap.events/tickets/ckielginorg/jake-shulman-ment-concert-1766430793.

ECC’s small business center hosting networking breakfast

The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Elgin Community College will host a free breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the Building E dining room on the Elgin campus.

Networking and learning opportunities will be available and a panel of local business people will discuss small business topics, a news release said. Information about no-cost resources that support small businesses will be provided.

Randall Oaks holding program on exercising after 40

Randall Oaks Recreation Center in West Dundee is holding a workshop on “Exercise Right: Keys to Working Out Effectively After 40,” from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.

The 75-minute interactive workshop is designed for people 40 and older to build strength, improve flexibility and boost balance, according to the Dundee Township Park District website. Participants will receive a workout guide with exercise tips and guidelines.

The class costs $20 and the center is located at 500 N. Randall Road. To register, go to www.dtpd.org/fitness-registration-classes.
