Sound Healing program to be held at Elgin library
Natalie Pendergrass from Sacred Spirit Bodyworks will present a “Community Sound Healing” program from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.
Attendees will immerse themselves in the vibrations of various instruments like singing bowls, chimes and drums, which are crafted to promote deep relaxation and inner harmony, according to the library’s website. Participants may bring along a mat or blanket and a pillow as needed for comfort.

KDOT holding meetings on Randall Road improvements
Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) will be holding two public information sessions on proposed Randall Road improvements.
The first will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Elgin Community College, Building E, 1700 Spartan Drive, and the second from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Algonquin Village Hall, 2200 Harnish Drive.
Among the proposed improvement areas to be discussed are:
- College Green Drive to South Street in Elgin;
- Highland Avenue to Big Timber Road in Elgin;
- Point Boulevard to Northwest Parkway in Elgin;
- Recreation Drive in West Dundee to Longmeadow Parkway in Algonquin;
- Commons Drive to County Line Road in Algonquin.

ECC seeking feedback on Hispanic-Serving Institution
Elgin Community College is seeking feedback on its Hispanic-Serving Institution strategic planning efforts via an online forum available through February and at community forums.
“We believe that community input is essential to creating a strategic plan that reflects the aspirations and priorities of our entire district,” Kristina Garcia, ECC’s interim assistant vice president of teaching, learning and student development, said in a news release. “Together, we can ensure this plan drives impactful programs, resources and partnerships for years to come.”
The first forum is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, in Building E, Room E121, at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive.
A second will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.
The third and final forum will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Centro De Informacion, 3036 Wakefield Drive, Carpentersville.
Spanish interpretation will be available at all three events.

Valentine’s cards being collected for health care workers
For the fourth consecutive year, state Reps. Anna Moeller, D-Elgin, and Suzanne Ness, D-Crystal Lake, are collecting Valentine’s Day cards and notes of gratitude to share with local health care workers.
Cards can be dropped off through Monday, Feb. 3, at the representatives’ district offices, according to a post on the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce website.
Ness’ office is at 20 S. Grove St., Room 103, Carpentersville. Moeller’s is at 164 Division St., Room 103, Elgin. Both are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
