Elgin Police Department recruiting video gets award from EIU

A video made to recruit officers for the Elgin Police Department has been named the best recruiting video in a statewide contest put on by the Eastern Illinois University Police Department.

The police department accepted the award during a presentation at the Elgin City Council meeting Wednesday, Sept. 11.

This video, “Your Future is Calling — Join the Elgin P.D.,” has an eye on the future of policing by using modern technology and increasing the numbers of officers from within the community, and also by including more women officers, according to a news release.

The release says the clincher for making this the winning recruiting video was the placement of the voiceover that says, “Now more than ever, we need people like you.”
