Gov. J.B. Pritzker reinstated the indoor mask mandate in late August, citing the rapidly rising number of cases and declining number of available ICU beds. Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson, however, believes the number of COVID-19 cases across the state is low enough to warrant removing the mandate.
