A Sunday fire at the Armanetti Fine Wine and Spirits store in Carpentersville resulted in about $1 million in property damage and $500,000 in property loss, according to village Fire Chief Bill Anaszewicz.
A bystander was the first to spot the blaze about 4:45 p.m. at the 222 W. Main St. business, officials said in a news release. Upon arrival, firefighters elevated the call to a box alarm to bring in assistance from other neighboring fire departments.
No one was injured in the blaze, which took about two hours to bring under control, the release said.
An investigation into the fire’s cause is underway, but it does not appear to be suspicious, officials said.
Firefighters assisted in boarding up the building before leaving the scene, according to a post on the Carpentersville Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 4790 Facebook page.
